Copyright: The University of the West Indies.</description> <description>McDonald Bailey, Trinidad born British and World champion sprinter was educated at Tranquillity Boys' lntermediate School and Queen's Royal College. His potential as a champion sprinter was recognized and nurtured from these early years at school and he participated in his first overseas athletic meeting at the age of l5 in St.Vincent. He joined the Royal Air Force in the hope of pursuing a career in sport and was successful in this regard as his potential as a champion sprinter came to the attention of the President of the RAF Athletic Association. He went on to participate in the Olympic Games, being the record holder in many international sprinting events.
