In 1582 was married to William Shakespeare, they had three children. The cottage stayed in the Hathaway family until it was purchased in 1892 by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The postcard is addressed to Mrs. Roberts, Marin County, California, USA. Affixed to the postcard are two 1d (one penny) stamps, postmarked July 25th, 1955.</description> <description>Funding for this project has been provided by Mrs. Irma E.
